From John Wilkes Booth to Charles Guiteau to John Hinkley and Lee Harvey Oswald, the assassins get to tell their stories in songs that vary to reflect the era of the time. Sondheim's score includes such numbers as "Another National Anthem," "The Ballad of Booth" and "Unworthy of Your Love." This was a musical, and the actors' voices were undeniably melodic and pleasant as they sang. But none of the three of us could understand as articulated the vast majority of the words that comprised the sentences that they were singing, so the whole play made absolutely no sense to us. We all three waited and hoped for an intermission so that we could politely exit, but there was none. Thus we had to suffer for the full two hours.

St. Mark's Players always does an excellent job, and Assassins was no exception. Great cast in a great Sondheim show with great direction by Kevin McAllister.
