D.C.'s own acclaimed avant-garde performance company force/collision creates a dynamic blend of live action and video projection inspired by British gay rights activist and experimental filmmaker Derek Jarman. Written by Obie Award-winning playwright Caridad Svich and starring John Moletress, this new production explores Jarman's out-of-the-box life and work through the eyes of a young queer artist, and premieres on the 20th anniversary of Jarman's death from AIDS-related causes. A true visionary, Jarman was famed for his non-narrative films, including Tilda Swinton's film debut Caravaggio, along with The Last of England, The Tempest and Blue, as well as his music videos for artists like The Sex Pistols, The Smiths and Pet Shop Boys. This production is set to tour parts of the U.S. and the UK following this run. Learn More

Tim Lee is a genius - hilarious with his low-key, straight-man delivery. Was so tickled by the information he provided at the beginning, to help us understand the show, which of course no one actually needed. The Power Point slides for which he is well-know were very funny, but he was equally entertaining when the screen was blank, or showing "accidentally" included personal photos.
No swearing or seriously gross material. We took our eleven year-old (and 18 year-old) and he laughed the whole time. Sometimes I'm not sure he got all the jokes, but therein lies the genius.
The opening comedians were just awful. I couldn't understand why he would have such un-funny lead-ins, since they did nothing to warm up the crowd. Again, my youngest son explained the logic: "Tim made sure the opening acts weren't funny so that by comparison he would kill." I'm not convinced, but if so it's entirely unnecessary. I would much rather skip the "warm up" and listen to Tim talk all night.
Definitely worth the money and can't wait until he comes back to town.

Tim Lee wasn’t supposed to be a comedian. A biologist by training, he graduated magna cum laude from UC San Diego with honors in biology. He went on to complete his Ph.D. at UC Davis. He spent years developing simulation and analytical models of population dynamics before he discovered that this bored him to tears. When he tried comedy for the first time the tears stopped. Lee has performed for clubs, colleges and companies across the U.S. He draws heavily on his science background to twist abstract theory into thought-provoking comedy.
Tim’s films have screened at film festivals across the country and been broadcast internationally. He is one of the Top 100 most subscribed comedians on Youtube. He’s done a commercial for the NHL starring opposite Jonathan Cheechoo, and was the Spare the Air Guy pictured in TV commercials, and on posters, trains and buses.
