When Agnes stumbles upon her late sister's Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she takes off on a revealing quest that finds her battling evil cheerleaders, randy ogres and homicidal faeries (with more than a little gore). Presented by Rorschach Theatre, the heartwarming action comedy She Kills Monsters -- a 2012 GLAAD Award nominee -- goes deeper than the fantasy game to explore the wounds of adolescence in a high-octane and dramatic fashion. Acclaimed Vietnamese-American playwright Qui Nguyen mashes up reality and fantasy, adds a dash of '90s pop culture and pays homage to the geek and warrior in all of us in this empowering story about embracing your inner badass. Tim Lee is a genius - hilarious with his low-key, straight-man delivery. Was so tickled by the information he provided at the beginning, to help us understand the show, which of course no one actually needed. The Power Point slides for which he is well-know were very funny, but he was equally entertaining when the screen was blank, or showing "accidentally" included personal photos.
No swearing or seriously gross material. We took our eleven year-old (and 18 year-old) and he laughed the whole time. Sometimes I'm not sure he got all the jokes, but therein lies the genius.
The opening comedians were just awful. I couldn't understand why he would have such un-funny lead-ins, since they did nothing to warm up the crowd. Again, my youngest son explained the logic: "Tim made sure the opening acts weren't funny so that by comparison he would kill." I'm not convinced, but if so it's entirely unnecessary. I would much rather skip the "warm up" and listen to Tim talk all night.
Definitely worth the money and can't wait until he comes back to town.

Tim Lee is a very funny guy, and his comedy routine is refreshingly different. The use of science charts that morph into joke charts was hilarious. Some of his observations were very wry and very on-point. My husband and I took our 14-year-old...continued

Tim Lee wasn’t supposed to be a comedian. A biologist by training, he graduated magna cum laude from UC San Diego with honors in biology. He went on to complete his Ph.D. at UC Davis. He spent years developing simulation and analytical models of population dynamics before he discovered that this bored him to tears. When he tried comedy for the first time the tears stopped. Lee has performed for clubs, colleges and companies across the U.S. He draws heavily on his science background to twist abstract theory into thought-provoking comedy.
Tim’s films have screened at film festivals across the country and been broadcast internationally. He is one of the Top 100 most subscribed comedians on Youtube. He’s done a commercial for the NHL starring opposite Jonathan Cheechoo, and was the Spare the Air Guy pictured in TV commercials, and on posters, trains and buses.
