American Ballet Theatre, regarded as one of the world's finest dance companies, brings an evening of mixed repertory to the Kennedy Center. Michel Fokine's Les Sylphides is a romantic reverie with music by Chopin orchestrated by Britten. Tchaikovsky powers the D.C. premiere of ABT principal dancer Marcelo Gomes' Aftereffect. Based on A Midsummer Night's Dream, Sir Frederick Ashton's The Dream marks 450 years since Shakespeare's birth. For over 70 years, American Ballet Theatre has wowed audiences everywhere with their passion, innovation and athleticism. The New York Times called them "American ballet at its peak," and it's easy to see why. Learn More

Contemporary dance performance by Washington, D.C.'s premiere modern dance company
Becoming American, which explores the experience of a Korean child uprooted from her birthplace when she is adopted by Caucasian American parents. The lead dancer is Katia Chupashko, whose personal story is represented in the work.
Hyphen, which looks at the experience of being a hyphenated American. The work features the full company.
Khaybet, a solo dance performed by associate artistic director Connie Fink. The dance, which depicts a woman at the end of her life, was choreographed after Burgess participated in a cultural exchange to northern Pakistan.
Fractures, a sparse and nuanced work which sensitively depicts a love triangle. The work will be performed by Yeonjin Cho, Kelly Southall and Sarah Halzack.
