Good to visit private galleries as a group and discuss with staff the art. Good contrast of styles.

Well organized, nice group of people. Just the right size. Hosts (often the artists) at each gallery were very nice and interesting. Got to know the galleries and will visit them again. Recommend this to others to try.

More Details About This Event:

This unique evening of art appreciation begins at Studio Gallery, the longest-running artist-owned gallery in the DC area. Now featuring the fabulous work of artist Amy Davis, this gallery also showcases unique artwork by 37 local professional artisans. These beautiful exhibits can be viewed in both solo and group showings; the Studio Gallery also caters to private individual showings.

Next, you'll visit the Gallery Ten, which specializes in 20th-century and contemporary prints, drawings, paintings, sculpture and photographs. You'll be amazed by the craftsmanship of these original works. Featuring local and international artists, Gallery Ten's greatest accomplishment is that it features unusual and innovative artwork in a compelling atmosphere that's free of commercial or societal constraints. For sheer, original artistry at its finest, Gallery Ten is unmatched.

The next gallery on the tour will be the Foundry Gallery. Since 1971 Foundry Gallery has encouraged and promoted Washington, DC-area artists. Begun by four students of Gene Davis, who shared studio space in the Duval Foundry in Georgetown, Foundry offers an alternative gallery experience to artists. As an artist-run organization, the gallery is free to exhibit a wider range of work than commercial galleries and to allow artists greater control over the exhibition and sale of their work.

An optional reception follows the tour (food and drink at your own expense).

Galleries are subject to change.
