A powerful story that helped pave the way for the desegregation of the American military, the history of the Tuskegee Airmen involved African-American pilots who proved themselves during World War II. This play follows Chet from Harlem, W. W. from Chicago, Oscar from rural Iowa and J. Allen from the Caribbean as they enter the Tuskegee training program for combat pilots. Although they encounter overt racism, the men join together and fly with distinction in dangerous missions over Germany. Co-writer Ricardo Khan directs the Washington premiere of Fly. The production features live action, video projections and the Tap Griot, a tap-dancing storyteller who expresses the anger, fear and triumph that the officers cannot.

Great story...well known but from a personal angle. Character development kept you engaged and the connection to 2009 inaugural ceremony was significant.

Very inspiring play about the Tuskegee Airmen. This was my second time seeing it and both times the cast was awesome. This play was funny, sad, serious and uplifting at the same time. The characters did a good job of making you feel as if you were in the 1940s watching their lives take various twists and turns while pursuing their dreams of becoming aviators. I hope this play goes far (to Broadway) because it's just that good.

Wonderful show - emotional and expertly acted. The tap dancer heightened the emotional aspects and the story was strong. A very uplifting experience. Seats were good, and everything worked out smoothly and easily.
