Tony Award-Winning Musical Spring Awakening by Keegan Theatre

Full Price:
$40.00
Our Price:
$20.00

Spring Awakening is an awesome rock musical and Broadway smash that won eight Tony Awards including Best Musical. Based on the Expressionist play that caused a scandal in 19th-century Germany, this poignant musical follows a group of teenagers as they navigate the confusing and often troubled waters of adolescence, complicated by their budding sexuality. Inspired by Frank Wedekind's controversial 1891 play, the musical's angst, emotion, desire and romance still ring true today, and its acclaimed score by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater turns this timeless story into a powerful coming-of-age rock musical. The Keegan Theatre's production is directed by two-time Helen Hayes nominees Susan Marie Rhea and Mark A. Rhea. Learn More

This is complex and challenging play and the company did an amazing job. Really impressive, definitely up to "off-Broadway" standards. So glad that Church Street Theater was willing to tackle this play and so glad that we were lucky enough to be in the audience.

Fabulous play. I am an avid theater-goer and I loved this production. Some of the acting was very good while one or two of the minor roles had actors who were not as strong. Usually that bothers me but this production was so strong that it didn't matter. As for the complaints about set changes, I disagree completely because they were a part of the play. The actors acted as they changed sets in a way that created the hustle-and-bustle of New York. Without this activity with all the people doing the set changes it would not have had that New York feel because most of the scenes were in apartments or offices. This is one of the best plays I have seen this year and I would recommend it over Superior Donuts.

John Robert Keena was sexy and convincing at "The Golden Boy" The settings, costumes, and music captured the mood of the 1930's very very well.

Keegan Theatre lacks sufficient restrooms so Pee before you go to the Theatre.

Acting was somewhat artificial. Play was too long; should have been edited to be shorter. Ending was abrupt.
