Based on The Matchmaker by Thornton Wilder, Hello, Dolly! tells the story of Dolly Gallagher Levi, a matchmaker who has been hired to arrange a marriage for the widowed half-millionaire Horace Vandergelder. Dolly, however, has other plans. With a cast of delightful leading characters and a fabulous chorus, Hello, Dolly! is also brimming with joyful tunes, including the title song, "Put on Your Sunday Clothes" and "It Only Takes a Moment." Eric Schaeffer (Meet John Doe) returns to Ford's Theatre to direct this enduring musical theater hit in a co-production with Virginia's Signature Theatre.

This was a joyous event. I loved the songs, costumes and dancing. I'm still humming the songs.

Generally good, but too scaled-down for a production of "Hello, Dolly!" Also, I felt that some of the casting was questionable. Enjoyable ... just didn't live up to my expectations of seeing a show at Ford's Theatre that was co-produced with Signature Theatre

This production of Hello Dolly is delightful and well-paced. The actors have amazing singing voices. We had horrible seats -- and spent most of the performance craning our necks to be able to see even part of the stage. It seemed quite silly to give us the worst seats possible, when the theater was only half-full.
