Dance Work Inspired by the Story of Pinocchio, Hip-Hop and Gender
Kyle Abraham/Abraham.In.Motion's latest dance explores gender roles in the black community and the quest for acceptance in the world of hip-hop celebrity. Inspired by the duality of Pinocchio's desire to be a "real boy," Live! The Realest MC is a reflection on our emoticon culture as social media burrows its way deeper into our consciousness and personal interactions. The performance references the fading of humanity through a dark narrative that sets the characters of Pinocchio in an industrial dystopia.
