One Night With Janis Joplin: 4th of July Fireworks & BBQ

Full Price:
$108.00
Our Price:
$105.00

One Night With Janis Joplin adds some actual Fourth of July fireworks to the musical ones produced on stage, with a post-show barbeque buffet on the Arena Stage terrace -- a prime viewing spot for the famed pyrotechnics launched on the National Mall. First up is the show, a part-concert, part-theatrical event that captures Janis Joplin's life and legacy in all its live intensity. Mary Bridget Davies stars as the rock legend in a performance that has audiences dancing in the aisles and critics raving. Featuring powerful musical numbers including "Piece of My Heart, "Summertime" and "Mercedes Benz," as well as one song Joplin never formally recorded, One Night boasts a full band and a cast including Sabrina Elayne Carten, who plays Bessie Smith, Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone. After the performance, you'll move outside the theater for food and drinks, along with the fireworks viewing. Please see the full event description for the buffet menu. Learn More

Heard parking was terrible, bit of a walk from metro too.

About 4 or so blocks from one of the surrounding Metro stations, which isn't too bad.

The Morrison-Clark is a lovely venue and I hope you will hold more events there. I also thought the un-advertised appetizers were an uexpected and very hospitable surprise.

Description

The Morrison-Clark Inn is on the National Register of Historic Places and dates back to 1864. In the 1920s it became a military club offering low-cost lodging to servicemen; every first lady from Grace Coolidge to Nancy Reagan served as honorary chairwoman. It is now a boutique-style hotel with 54 guest rooms with unique period furnishings.

For your pleasure, the Morrison-Clark is offering drink specials on everything "Big Easy." Enjoy a traditional Mint Julep, a not-too-sweet concoction of bourbon and mint syrup garnished with a fragrant herbal sprig. With one in hand, you'll be on the way to mastering the art of staying cool in even the most melting heat, something that seems innate to Southerners. The secret? A refreshing drink, a light breeze — oh, and maybe the seersucker helps, too.
