Program:
Liszt Les Preludes
Elgar In the South
Prokofiev Suite from Romeo and Juliet
Following last fall's remarkable performance of Tchaikovsky masterpieces, the New York Philharmonic, "a band of extraordinary virtuosos who can switch from Haydn to Berio on a dime" (The New York Times), returns to Washington for the first time with one of its favorite guest conductors, the great Riccardo Muti. More Than Notes: More Than Notes concert preview at 2:45pm, led by Marilyn Cooley
More Than Notes concert previews are an exciting way to enhance your enjoyment and understanding of WPAS performances. This season, lecturers Ben Roe and WETA’s Marilyn Cooley will offer insights and comparisons between the performing artists in each of the following genres – Great Orchestras, Pianists, Vocalists, and Strings – in addition to further illuminating the written program notes. A ticket to the corresponding performance or a WPAS membership card is required for entrance.
More Than Notes concert previews are generously made possible by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
