Written on Oct 14 2011Very enjoyable evening. Brought back lots of childhood memories. Great theater!
Written on Oct 12 2011Such a great night out! We had not been to Arena Stage since the renovations... it looks wonderful. There is not a bad seat in the Fichandler Theater and the cast was spectacular.
Written on Oct 06 2011The play exceeded my expectations! I was pleasantly surprised by the diverse casting and the humor of the play. Kept me at the edge of my seat fully engaged and the rest of the audience was equally engaged! Arena Stage is top notch and I look forward to more events at this venue!
Written on Oct 05 2011We thought the Arena Stage production of Oklahoma was excellent in terms of acting, singing and dancing.
Written on Oct 05 2011I saw the show once on my own, a second time as an usher, and a third time because I wanted an out-of-town guest to see the show. I enjoyed the show as much the last time as the first. It was great fun and so well done. What energy by all the cast members!
Written on Oct 05 2011Loved the energy packed performance. The theater lends itself so well to creating a venue where the audience feels like part of the action. I am so excited to see a show where FINALLY race and ethnicity does not define the character, rather it is talent.
Written on Oct 04 2011We had the good fortune to finally see The Arena Stage production of Oklahoma -- we have seen this wonderful musical numerous times and this production was the best. Each cast member was outstanding and the choreography top notch. Excellent production.
Written on Oct 04 2011excellent in all respects
Written on Oct 04 2011I thought the performance was wondergul!!
Written on Oct 04 2011It was TERRIFIC!!!! Not like any other production of Oklahoma that I have ever seen! I originally wasn't going to go because I've seen it many times--but had heard how different and wonderful it was and now that I've seen it--I TOTALLY agree! Loved all the changes that were made to the show and the costumes, dancing, acting and singing was absolutely top notch!
Written on Oct 03 2011Was great! Acting, singing, dancing superb!
Written on Oct 03 2011Good show. The new Arena Stage is beautiful. I really liked the sets and thought the orchestra was great. The actors were mostly very good. Ado Annie in particular was great.
Written on Oct 03 2011What a wonderful and uplifting production. It was pure joy to be a part of and witness to such a wonderful experience. The cast was superb, the musicians quite inspiring, the stage and props thoughtfully appointed. Bravo!
Written on Oct 03 2011Enjoyed the show and music, but wish the male leads had been a bit stronger
Written on Oct 03 2011This was a wonderful show with enthusiastic performers, great dancing, and lovely voices. I only wish the lead actors voices were a bit clearer when speaking.
Written on Oct 03 2011It was FABULOUS! Best show we've seen in years.
Knew all the words and wanted to sing with the cast!!
Written on Oct 03 2011Enjoyed the show. Price was right.
Written on Oct 03 2011For me, this production did not live up to the rave reviews in the Washington Post. I thought the cast was very talented, but much of the acting was too "stagey" for a relatively intimate theater. A more naturalistic style would have worked better. The orchestra was too small, although I understand these days we're fortunate if there's a live orchestra at all. This is a bad trend, and I hope theaters will start employing more, not fewer, musicians. Over all, the singing was good, and I enjoyed the dancing, too.
Written on Oct 03 2011Since I hadn't seen Oklahoma! for such a long time I forgot how truly wonderful it is -- it's entertaining, touching, inspiring, patriotic and funny all within a few hours, a few hours that go by very fast. The Arena Stage production is excellent. Theater-in-the-round brings the show close to everyone in the audience.
Written on Oct 03 2011The performance was wonderful! It stayed very close to the classic, but was able to put its own flare to it. The entire cast was superb, but Kudos to the performers who played Ado Annie, Curly, Al Hakim, and Will Parker.
Written on Oct 03 2011Fabulous show! Excellent cast great voices, wonderful choreography, imaginative staging for theatre in the round. Made full use of stage and entrances. Cafe inside for before theater drink, snack, dinner. Cast received a well-deserved standing ovation.
Written on Oct 03 2011Terrific production. All the cast members were so talented and had great voices.

Written on Oct 03 2011It was wonderful. Loved the cast.
Written on Oct 03 2011Great!
Written on Oct 03 2011What fun! A 'pared-down' production (big ensemble singing limited to Act 2, overture not performed) in some ways, but an enthusiastic cast makes this a nice production. The actors spoke very quickly and with strong accents, making the dialog difficult for my non-native-English-speaking husband to follow. But the line delivery was dead-on and so my kids got a lot of the (very old) jokes, or at least saw humor in the actors and the situations. Nehal Joshi (as Ali Hakim) was very, very funny, and has excellent comic timing and deadpan delivery, and there was great dancing from Cody Williams (as Will Parker). The singing, in my opinion, was good but not fantastic (Eleasha Gamble as Laurey is the exception), but the show moves along quickly and flows well, and is well worth seeing. Bring the kids, but remember Jud when you do so. Jud is "creepy" (how I described him to my 11- and 13-year old daughters) and you might want to prepare children a little, but this production doesn't dwell on the darker bits, although Jud's "photographs" are mentioned and the smoke shack is used in the dream dance sequence for some corset-clad dancers to emerge from. Performed in the round, and all seats are good. At Arena Stage, pre-order your intermission snacks because the time goes by quickly.
Written on Oct 03 2011leads are good singers, dancers and actors. All of the dancing is very good; the choreography is great, though the Arena does not have enough space for the full complement of a Broadway show cast. The story was never the reason for seeing Oklahoma; but the cowboy ethic, particularly the death of the hired hand, is a little off-putting; and I see no compelling dramatic reason for it in the first place.
Written on Oct 03 2011Entertaining show even though not a show I might have picked prior to seeing it. Some stand out performers ...
Written on Oct 03 2011Excellent!
Written on Oct 03 2011Beautiful venue! Not a bad seat in the house. Great acting, singing, and dancing. Very entertaining.
Written on Oct 03 2011Great seats. great fun, great evening. I saw thie 50 yrs. ago and the updates to the show were refreshing and fun. A good time was had by all.
Written on Oct 03 2011This production of Oklahoma! was simply superb. It brought such fresh life to the music and the story. The choreography was particularly stunning, and coupled with the talented acting, the gorgeous singing, and the impeccable costumes it was unbeatable! There is no question in my mind why this has been such a popular production. It's not to be missed!!!
Written on Oct 03 2011Outstanding evening
Written on Sep 30 2011This musical followed the traditional "Oklahoma" that we all knew as kids (or older)..yet Arena's production brought some freshness and a slight goth edge to the characters who performed beautifully with strong voices and excellent personalities. I loved the performance and brought two friends with me to enjoy it as well. We'll be back to Arena soon!
Written on Sep 30 2011It was so much funnier than we expected. Everyone next to us was laughing as well. It's a small stage so every seat has a good view. FYI no pictures allowed before or during the show.
Written on Sep 29 2011Thoroughly entertaining!
Written on Sep 29 2011This musical was great! The actors and actresses were so talented not only in their singing but their danicing too. There is not a bad seat in the house. And, the new theater and building are beautiful.
Written on Sep 29 2011fantastic ensemble, fantastic performance
Written on Sep 29 2011Just as good as all the reviews said. A couple of tiny quibbles -- for example, the understudy was playing Curly, and his voice wasn't quite as strong as I might have liked, but he was a really good actor and that made up for it. Good acting all around, and some nice touches/twists on the staging and props. The production kept a big smile on my face viirtually the entire time. I highly recommend it if you like musical theater (and maybe even if you don't), but act fast -- it closes this weekend.
Written on Sep 29 2011The dancing was amazing! Some fine voices and orchestra. Have seen many versions of OK but this is best. t
Written on Sep 29 2011Absolutely Fabulous and Fun!
Written on Sep 28 2011Uplifting performance. The music was so joyful. Thought the actors had excellent singing voices.
The staff couldn't be nicer. They accommodated my 90 year old mother with seats in the back and on the isle. Very helpful.
Written on Sep 28 2011Well worth going before it closes Oct. 2. Outstanding cast, staging and high energy beautifully crafted. All ages will enjoy.
Written on Sep 27 2011"Oklahoma" was absolutely delightful!! Lovely to see how a true American classic can be updated to feel so contemporary.
Written on Sep 27 2011Wow! Such a great show. I brought my sons (ages 8 and 9) and got a little nervous during the dream sequence, but it moved quickly through that one part and my boys didn't ask a lot of questions. It was their first big show, and they LOVED it! A musical where the actors shoot guns (not at the audience ;-), what boy wouldn't love it? If you are thinking of going -- GO :-)
Written on Sep 26 2011I loved the show as well as the venue. One gets a fabulous view of the show from any seat in the house. The acting was superb, and the staging excellent.
Written on Sep 26 2011Excellent seating and entertaining show. Incredible dancing and acting.
Written on Sep 26 2011A spirited production, beautifully staged and getting the most of these lovely and familiar songs.
One concern with the Arena production was the micing of certain performers. It mostly sounded great, but a couple of performers sounded tinny and electronic through the mics. It wa a matinee, and there were several understudies, so I wonder if that had something to do with it.
Written on Sep 26 2011Way better than I expected. I'd defnitely recommend it.
Written on Sep 26 2011Fantastic performances at a beautiful intimate venue. There is not a bad seat in the house. Easy to get to by metro. High energy fun show made for an outstanding fun evening. Just loved it!!
Written on Sep 26 2011A well-done and fun musical. We all enjoyed it.
Written on Sep 26 2011This was a great show! After some spectacular shows it was fun to see an old favorite, beautifully done. It captured the symplicity of the times. The audience was all smiles.
Written on Sep 26 2011A fabulous show in a great venue.
Written on Sep 26 2011wONDERFUL MUSIC.ACTING AND SINGING!! EVERY SEAT IS A GOOD SEAT!!
Written on Sep 26 2011Excellent production, excellent cast.
Written on Sep 26 2011Singing, dancing, acting were all grand!
Written on Sep 26 2011Great acting, great music, great venue. Went with my eight year old son, so found the second act a bit too racy.
Written on Sep 26 2011What a wonderful presentation of a true American classic musical. The new Arena Stage at the Mead Centre for American Theater is beautiful architectually and encompasses both the old Fichandler and Kreeger Theatres. The tickets purchased from Goldstar were A+ seating and worth every penny we spent on the event. We will always check our Goldstar listings for further events in our area.
Written on Sep 26 2011The actors are all amazing in this show that many of us know all too well. But the staging and talent in this production made it fresh. Poor Jud is Dead is always a favorite of mine as it has such wit. The ballet number was a little short of the expectations I had given the rest of the first act. But all in all, I liked it very much and recommend it especially if you've only ever seen the movie.
Written on Sep 24 2011We thoroughly enjoyed the show. We were surprised about its histoical nature and we've encouraged friends to attend for more enlightenment. A relative of mine had a great grandmother who was born in the Oklahoma/Indian territory. When her great grandmother was 65 she wanted to get a passport and was told she was not a citizen. However, corrections were made and she was able to leave the country for a visit.
Written on Sep 23 2011Saw this show for the second time. It was even better than the first time around. Highly recommend
Written on Sep 22 2011Singing and dancing were terrific. Very energetic cast . Great set. Only gripe: wish the performers weren't miked, or at least that the levels were set better--these are very strong singers. Also I don't recommend seating in the A rows if you're taller than 5'5" because of limited leg room.
Written on Sep 22 2011A wonderfully fresh take on an old classic musical. The cast was uniformly wonderful and obviously enjoyed doing the show.
Written on Sep 22 2011Loved this production! The in-the-round element was utilized to bring the audience into the action. The pace of the show was very well maintained with a few surprises along the way.
Written on Sep 21 2011Entertaining singing/acting/dancing. But simplistic plot/storyline/dialog. The secondary love triangle/sub-plot was well-conceived and humorous.
The venue The Arena Stage is now simply the finest in DC. The renovation added a plethora of uniquely wrapping open engaging spaces Stunning architectural features and elements such as 4-story glass enclosure walls providing breathtaking views from several well placed overlooks and balconies throughout. Multiple bathrooms strategically placed assured there was no line during intermission, as did the 3 different well-staffed bars/cafes. We enjoyed the modern majestic feel and features of the venue as much as we did the show.
Written on Sep 21 2011Loved the "in the round" presentation. The singing was excellent and the choreography involved all 4 sides of the theater.
Written on Sep 21 2011Intimate in the round setting; lively, entertaining and novel approach.
Written on Sep 21 2011excelent!
Written on Sep 20 2011Terrific performance in an intimate setting!
Written on Sep 20 2011Great production! Star cast!
Written on Sep 19 2011Fabulous creative interpretation of the classic musical. Not a bad seat in the house with the theater in the round setup. The last time I saw Oklahoma in London, Hugh Jackman was in the lead role. This was such a better experience being so close to the stage and the players. I would recommend this very highly.
Written on Sep 19 2011Great show- interesting interpretation. There was a strange dance towards the end of the first act, but I'm not in to interpretative dance, so that's probably why it was my least favorite part. Great cast and timeless songs. Arena stage is a fantastic place to see a show- small enough to be intimate, but large enough so you're not sitting on top of each other.
Written on Sep 19 2011As good as any musical that I have seen on Broadway or elsewhere, and I have attended Broadway musicals beginning in 1963. Entire cast is superb. Hard to believe that the playbill bio for Ado Annie said that she is a rising senior in High School. I understand that performances will be ending in early October, don't miss it.
Written on Sep 19 2011Great venue, great supporting actors - Ali hakim and will Parker were great. The leads were okay. The script is awful.
Written on Sep 19 2011The talent on the stage was staggering. Every note, word and step was luminous. I have the original cast album (with Joan Roberts and Alfred Drake), and I believe this cast does as joyous and beautiful a job as the original cast did. This production exceeds the Hollywood film in that it reverts to the original script, so it is a much saucier version. I have raved about it to friends.
Written on Sep 19 2011Fantastic show. Staging, music, performers were all first rate. At Arena Stage, there's not a bad seat in the house.
Written on Sep 19 2011A wonderful musical with great dancing, singing and impressive attention to being a theather-in-the-round production.
Written on Sep 19 2011Fabulous performance! Superb dancing and singing!
Written on Sep 19 2011Fantastic show, energetic cast and classic songs. Really wonderful.
Written on Sep 19 2011Exciting production - great singing - not your everyday "Oklahoma"!
Written on Sep 19 2011The cast was fantastic, I loved it! Took my two grandchildren to see it and I couldn't believe that my grandson who only likes toys that use technology did not blink during the presentation. He sang all the way home, thank you for making an impression on my 7 year old that he will hold forever. You guys are amazing.
Written on Sep 19 2011Outstanding in every respect -- acting, dancing, singing and atmosphere!
Written on Sep 19 2011The show was phenomenal! Coming from New York City and being somewhat of a Broadway fanatic, I consider myself fairly fussy, and this was close to being perfect. The cast was brilliant, with special kudos to the wonderful voices of the two leads (playing Curly and Laurey) and to Ado Annie, whose timing was impeccable, and that is one of the most difficult parts to learn for a young star (the actress is just starting her senior year in HS). The choreography was fantastic as well -- everything worked so well together. My only disappointment is that for some reason, the orchestra didn't play the overture. But unlike with many musicals these days, the orchestra didn't drown out the performers.
Written on Sep 19 2011Second time I saw this show. Same great cast, excellent choreography and overall, an outstanding production. Surpised though that the theater was less than half full. Come on musical lovers: if you haven't seen this production yet you have only through Oct. 2 to do so.
Written on Sep 19 2011The actors were excellent and are a great example of real talent. Their voices and acting skills kept the audience's attention even in the slower areas of the story line.
I had never been to this stage before but it was an intimate setting offering the audience the feeling of being part of the performance.
Written on Sep 19 2011Wonderful show. Great view no matter where you sit.
Written on Sep 19 2011This was my first time seeing Oklahoma (play or movie). I really enjoyed it! Some of the songs were familiar, and think the actors had great voices for their parts. The actors have to do extra work since the venue is a 'theater in the round' and I think they did a good job of it. The dancers were awesome - so much energy!
Written on Sep 19 2011Oklahoma the musical was thoroughly enjoyable in a lovely new Arena Stage space.
Written on Sep 19 2011This performance was awesome! I really enjoyed how the cast was diverse among many ethnic groups. This depiction gave a more realistic view of our culture both then and now even in the frontier….maybe not as inclusive as society is today.
Written on Sep 19 2011Absolutely first-rate production, particularly the dancing! Truly impressive, and glad I caught the show. Definitely recommend.
Written on Sep 19 2011Excellent, modern interpretation of a musical classic. Entire cast is very strong and talented. Not a week character among them.
Written on Sep 17 2011The dancing, singing and energy of the show were all terrific. This remake of an old classic is definitely worth seeing.,
Written on Sep 16 2011We thought the performance was good, but not as good as the reviews.
Written on Sep 16 2011Fantastic show! Singing, dancing, acting and orchestra all top-notch!! Plenty of laughs as well. Don't miss "Oklahoma" -- it's fun, heartwarming, and a rare chance to see a great American musical theater classic.
Written on Sep 16 2011energetic and terrific dancing and singing
Written on Sep 15 2011This was an outstanding, very professionally rendered performance of Oklahoma.
Written on Sep 15 2011Stellar acting, singing, dancing, music, costumes, spare set = THE WORKS!! An absolute MUST SEE!!! 3 of us went and we're still raving about it today.
Written on Sep 15 2011The cast of Oklahoma are furiously energetic and their timing is precise!
A genuin ely entertaining show and the music is memorable, the voices of both men and women are strong, vibrant and hjighly musical.

About the Ticket Supplier: Arena Stage
Arena Stage today stands as a flagship American theater. Arena Stage was one of the first not-for-profit theaters in the United States, as well as a pioneer of the regional theater movement. It was the first regional theater to transfer a production to Broadway, the first invited by the U.S. State Department to tour behind the Iron Curtain, and the first to receive a Tony Award. Taking a leadership role in extending theater's horizons, Arena Stage has implemented groundbreaking policies and programs, promoting diversity in all aspects of theater, from theatergoing to production.
The Arena Stage legacy of world-class productions includes vast epics, charged dramas, rousing musicals, and probing profiles. From the monumental to the developmental, Arena Stage has helped build the canon of American theater. While they produce American classics, Arena Stage premieres new American plays and supported works in progress. They've nurtured artistic growth and engaged the community, broadening and intensifying the theatrical experience for one and all. And yet, in spite of it all, in their second half-century they see themselves as more fresh, restless and dynamic than ever.
