Oliver Mtukudzi and The Black Spirits with Krar Collective
Influential African Musician "Tuku" Mtukudzi, His Band & Krar Collective
The sound of Zimbabwean musician Oliver "Tuku" Mtukudzi is so influential and unique, it's been dubbed simply "Tuku Music." Now Tuku and his band the Black Spirits bring his evocative melodies, many of which have been recorded by the likes of Bonnie Raitt ("Hear Me Lord") and others, to Lisner Auditorium. As a vocalist with a deep, gutsy voice (and 57 albums to his credit), Tuku sings in Zimbabwe's Shona language as well as Ndebele and English, backed by traditional African rhythms and instruments. Called "The Ethiopian White Stripes" by critics, the Krar Collective will also be on hand, ready to perform an authentic yet contemporary take on music from their native Ethiopia.

The terrace seats in the Lisner Auditorium are horrible! I left early because the are so crowded on leg room. I'm 5'7" tall and my knees were jammed into the seat in front of my. It was worse than a 16 hour coach flight. Ppl were up and down because they were uncomfortable. It was hard to enjoy the show in such misery.
