Shakespeare saved his best for last: his final play, The Tempest, is his most magical and engrossing tale. It follows the adventures of Prospero, an exiled duke who lives as the master of an enchanted isle abounding with fantastical creatures, mystery, music and romance. When a shipwreck delivers Prospero's enemies to the island, the plot thickens as his beloved daughter falls for one of the castaways. Bring a lawn chair and a picnic basket and enjoy this outdoor production from the Olney Theatre Center at the Root Family Stage. In celebration of the 65th anniversary of the National Players -- OTC's touring company of young professional actors -- celebrated National Player "veterans" will compose half the cast while current company members will take the younger roles. Excellent production of one of Noel Coward's best plays. I loved the black and white 1931 film with Norma Shearer and Robert Montgomery and this is just as good if not better whereas I did not like Shakespeare's Theatre Company version of Noel Coward's Brief Encounter, one of Britain's favorite films of all times. A must see!
