Sing Down the Moon: Appalachian Folk Tales in Musical Form
Atlas Performing Arts Center presents Sing Down the Moon, the award-winning musical for the whole family that spins well-known tales into a crazy quilt of Appalachian lore, humor and wisdom. Described as "excellent entertainment for all ages" by the Washington Times, this Helen Hayes Award-winning musical is a retelling of four classic fairy tales transformed by the music and lore of Appalachia. Cinderella becomes a feisty young girl called "Catskins," Beauty and the Beast becomes a tale of a lost girl and a magic crow. Silliness abounds when three pigs meets a tricky fox and the hapless hero Jack tries to get a job. This celebration of music, dance and imagination is ideal for ages 4 and up, and features the talented students of Catholic University's nationally-known Music Theatre program.
