So Percussion: Contemporary Quartet Performs where (we) live
Called "brilliant" by The New York Times and "astonishing and entrancing" by Billboard, So Percussion returns to the Atlas Performing Arts Center with a new show. where (we) live is a multi-media, multi-artist and fully-staged performance the explores the outer limits of both art ... and our own comfort zones. No ensemble is better qualified for such a trip to the frontiers of music and experience than this Brooklyn-based quartet. Using everything from standard drums to coffee cups, metal pipes and an amplified cactus, So Percussion performs works by contemporary composers as well as their own highly original music. Together since 1999, this accomplished group has worked with the likes of Medeski Martin & Wood, the Dirty Projectors, Dan Deacon and even sculptor Martin Kersels. Now experience their musical meditation on the places (and people) called "home."

The Atlas Performing Arts Center is relatively new to me, but I've enjoyed every event I've been to there. The adaptation of a classic movie theater for use as a center with several venues makes The Atlas an interesting and fun place worth a visit on its own.Sannidhi (Sacred Space) info • Mar 31 2014 star this tip starred
