D.C.'s own acclaimed avant-garde performance company force/collision creates a dynamic blend of live action and video projection inspired by British gay rights activist and experimental filmmaker Derek Jarman. Written by Obie Award-winning playwright Caridad Svich and starring John Moletress, this new production explores Jarman's out-of-the-box life and work through the eyes of a young queer artist, and premieres on the 20th anniversary of Jarman's death from AIDS-related causes. A true visionary, Jarman was famed for his non-narrative films, including Tilda Swinton's film debut Caravaggio, along with The Last of England, The Tempest and Blue, as well as his music videos for artists like The Sex Pistols, The Smiths and Pet Shop Boys. This production is set to tour parts of the U.S. and the UK following this run. Learn More

Tonight, I needed something light: Sole Defined "Black: Amer I Can"
Tap dance extraordinaire (and producer) Ryan Johnson redefines our definitions of tap dance with explorations of sand dance, Step, and African and Hip Hop influences. Mixed media tells the story with visuals and spoken word and DC's heartbeat, Christylez Bacon providing all the 'extras'. Energetic and fun time!!
There will be an included, optional post-show discussion with the cast after each performance.
