An acclaimed vocalist and six-time Grammy nominee, Nnenna Freelon was called by The New York Times "a jazz singer with unstinting vivacity." She has released a dozen successful solo discs, appeared at major jazz festivals including Tanglewood, Monterey and Montreaux, and recorded and toured with the biggest names in the business, including Ramsey Lewis, Jessye Norman, Herbie Hancock, Ray Charles and many more. And that's in addition to performing on the most prestigious stages in the world, among them Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl and The Kennedy Center. Learn More

Tonight, I needed something light: Sole Defined "Black: Amer I Can"
Tap dance extraordinaire (and producer) Ryan Johnson redefines our definitions of tap dance with explorations of sand dance, Step, and African and Hip Hop influences. Mixed media tells the story with visuals and spoken word and DC's heartbeat, Christylez Bacon providing all the 'extras'. Energetic and fun time!!
There will be an included, optional post-show discussion with the cast after each performance.
