The eighth annual Fighting Improv Smackdown Tournament -- otherwise known as FIST -- pits the most talented three-person troupes in the D.C. area against each other in a fierce battle for audience laughs and all-out comedy supremacy. This year's competitors include an all-puppet team, a blues-music-based group and an ensemble whose entire show is based on celebrity tweets. But you're the ultimate winner -- not only do you get to enjoy the best long-form improv the competitors have to offer, but you also get to vote via secret ballot for who should move on and enjoy a bonus headliner set by a Washington Improv Theater company ensemble. Uncle Cory's Secret Playtime: Created and performed by Quynn Johnson, Cory Oberndorfer and Angela Pirko. A tap dancer, a painter and a theater artist explore what happens when the doors close and coulrophobia abounds.
Momentum, Interrupted: Created and performed by Anna Patricia Farfán, Megan Mueller and Adi Stein. When a dancer, artist and writer unleash their creativity, a changing world becomes just a little less scary.
Fox Cried: Created and performed by Ethan Foote, Jack Novak and Jane Claire Remick. The line between truth and falsehood blurs as the passions of a composer, artists and storyteller get tied up in an ancient myth.
