The Terakaft concert at the Maison Francaise was a fantastic experience. With the first act, Cheick Hamala Diabate, the south of Mali was represented with wonderful african rhythms that got the crowd out of their seats dancing more than once. From the north, Terakaft, with their swirling desert sand cadences, gave an almost hypnotic performance with their nomadic saharan interpretation of the electric blues. Good stuff!

Very nice performance. It was unfortunate that two of their band members were unable to make the trip. The modest-sized crowd gave these musicians a warm welcome. This was the band's first-ever trip into the USA. Cheick Hamala Diabate and his band...continued
