Hailed as one of Israel's most important films, Assi Dayan's 1992 film centers on a Tel Aviv pub and its multicultural clientele. Owned by a middle age woman and representing a complex portrait of Israel, the pub hosts men and women, Jews and Arabs, and a mix of Jewish ethnicities. One night a squad of soldiers is kicked out of the establishment for hassling a waitress. But the consequences of that act are greater than anyone could have imagined.
