Author of several nonfiction best-sellers (including Growing Up Free and Getting Over Getting Older), Letty Cottin Pogrebin is also an award-winning journalist, social justice activist and an acclaimed public speaker. Now she sits down with Nadine Epstein, editor and publisher of Moment Magazine, to discuss her newest book: How to Be a Friend to a Friend Who's Sick. A collection of advice and warmhearted wisdom, Pogrebin wrote the book after her own successful battle with breast cancer. Some of the stories tell of the humorous blunders of well-intentioned friends, while others provide surprising (and often simple) insights into how best to provide support for someone when they most need it. This could have been a perfect evening. Singers Will Gartshore and Bayla Whitten were beyond wonderful. Gartshore, whom I had seen in several plays, sang like an angel. Joshua Morgan is clearly an extremely talented pianist, but unfortunately he seemed to be drunk and rambled on and on about himself instead -- even insulting an audience member personally. Someone should get him to rehab before he gets on the stage again; it would be a shame to let him drink away his talent.
