Thanks to a recent $8 million renovation, the gorgeous art-deco Bethesda Theatre is now Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club, a hot spot for live music, dining and drinking. The club offers great entertainment from top national blues and jazz artists, plus the best talent from the mid-Atlantic region, in an intimate setting with excellent acoustics. Enjoy a great dinner served up with a little blues and jazz -- Executive Chef William Pack Jr. has created a Creole/Cajun-inspired menu with a bevy of mouthwatering choices, including delicious desserts. The cherry blossoms weren't out but that is hardly within the control of the company offering this tour. Despite that, the tour was very informative and fun. The group was the right size. The guide was very knowledgeable and gracious. And the Kite Festival on the Mall almost made up for the lack of cherry blossoms. I did not know the tour was for two-hours, most of that spent standing or walking. I think that fact should be a little more prominent. That, though, is a quibble. I recommend this tour.
Hear the stories and secrets behind the delicate blossoms during a walking tour featuring not only cherry trees, but also noteworthy arboreal cousins. Learn about the woman whose cherry tree vision lives on today, a Japanese lantern older than the United States itself, and where you can discover even more pink and white blooms. _
__Please note that this walking tour does not include a walk around the entire Tidal Basin area. (It is usually too crowded to bring a walking tour group around the Tidal Basin.) The walk concludes at the Tidal Basin, site of most of the famous Japanese cherry trees. Walk participants are welcome to walk the area on their own._ The tour lasts for approximately two hours and will take place rain or shine.
