Christmas comes to the Capital as the City Choir of Washington presents The Holly and the Ivy: Music for Christmas at the National Presbyterian Church. Brilliant brass and resounding organ will join one of D.C.'s most accomplished choirs in a glorious celebration of the season. In addition to beloved carols from ages past, the choir will premiere a brand-new Christmas work by its own artistic director, the Grammy-winning Robert Shafer. The concert will also feature the singing stars of tomorrow, Millbrook High School's acclaimed Concert Choir. As is tradition, the event will conclude with a rousing rendition of the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's Messiah. Learn More

The Washington Bach Consort is a wonderful ensemble, however the venue -- The National Presbyterian Church -- has TERRIBLE acoustics. The music sounded muddy and as if one had cotton in one's ears. The vocal soloist was often inaudible. While I would go see the WBC again, never again in this venue.
