The eighth annual Fighting Improv Smackdown Tournament -- otherwise known as FIST -- pits the most talented three-person troupes in the D.C. area against each other in a fierce battle for audience laughs and all-out comedy supremacy. This year's competitors include an all-puppet team, a blues-music-based group and an ensemble whose entire show is based on celebrity tweets. But you're the ultimate winner -- not only do you get to enjoy the best long-form improv the competitors have to offer, but you also get to vote via secret ballot for who should move on and enjoy a bonus headliner set by a Washington Improv Theater company ensemble. This was one of the most interesting productions I have seen in a long time. Engaging and thought provoking.
Nora Ashati stood out among a strong group. A very good cast which worked well together.
While 90 minutes and no intermission the time flew by and I didn't look at my watch once.
Leave time afterwards to discuss the play with your companions as there is much to ponder. Would have enjoyed a post play discussion.
