In Nikolai Gogol's 19th-century masterpiece of dramatic satire, the system of graft, corruption and ineptitude in Tsarist Russia plays out in a backwater town so far removed from Moscow that it might as well be here. Local leaders and their cronies curry favor by giving a visiting official money, women and more. But are they greasing the right man's palm?

Tony Award-Winning Musical Spring Awakening by Keegan Theatre

Full Price:
$40.00
Our Price:
$20.00

Spring Awakening is an awesome rock musical and Broadway smash that won eight Tony Awards including Best Musical. Based on the Expressionist play that caused a scandal in 19th-century Germany, this poignant musical follows a group of teenagers as they navigate the confusing and often troubled waters of adolescence, complicated by their budding sexuality. Inspired by Frank Wedekind's controversial 1891 play, the musical's angst, emotion, desire and romance still ring true today, and its acclaimed score by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater turns this timeless story into a powerful coming-of-age rock musical. The Keegan Theatre's production is directed by two-time Helen Hayes nominees Susan Marie Rhea and Mark A. Rhea. Learn More

Went biased in favor but found it much too long and overly slapstick.

I took my boyfriend to this play because a friend of mine is on the tech crew. We both agreed that we liked the message of the play--that government is ripe with corruption--and we both found it funny at parts. However, the play was really bizarre, much too long, and I wouldn't see it again or recommend it.

Self indulgent and painfully long. Not worth the time or money.
