Hartke Theatre presents Shakespeare's controversial play The Merchant of Venice. Themes of humanity, dignity, revenge, cruelty, religion and greed are all explored in the character of Shylock, a vengeance-seeking moneylender who is one of Shakespeare's most tragic figures. The clever and well-spoken Portia is also one of his most prominent heroines, whose intelligence shines every bit as brightly as her beauty. See this classic tale that shows the tenacity of young people in love and calls into question the prejudices and beliefs of Renaissance-era Venice. Learn More

This is the first time I have been to a production at Catholic University and I have to say I was blown away by the performance. Theater was packed - full house. Acting superb - plot engaging - dialogue - fantastic. I will definitely be back for their other productions. Thanks for an awesome evening out!
