Gilbert and Sullivan's Victorian Comic Opera The Mikado
A comic opera in two acts, The Mikado is one of Gilbert and Sullivan's most-loved works, and one of the most popular operettas in the English language. Set in the Japanese town of Titipu, The Mikado tells the tale of a beautiful schoolgirl, Yum-Yum, who's engaged to the executioner Ko-Ko, only to fall in love with the romantic minstrel Nanki-Poo -- who happens to be bethrothed to Katisha. In classic Gilbert and Sullivan form, complications and merriment ensue. This production is presented by the Georgetown Gilbert & Sullivan Society.

The weather was sunny and warm.. I wore jeans and a white shirt with bow-tie and black sportcoat. Here's the deal, this isn't a "dressy" event. This is a production by Georgetown Law students. But for goodness' sake, people, it's good to dress up anyway. It shows you respect yourself, the place you're going, the people you're going to see, and the people you're going with. Wear jeans to dress it down, but a sport coat and nice shirt are perfectly good for a nice show like this. .star this tip starred
