Set during the rural economic slowdown of the 1970s, playwright Sam Shepard's universally acclaimed Buried Child resonates as strongly today as it did when it launched Shepard's career in 1978. A Pulitzer winner for drama, Buried Child makes for a fierce, forceful and unforgettable portrayal of the realities of the American Dream. The realistic masterpiece mixes comedy and drama, keen commentary and deep emotion in a squalid farm home occupied by a clan filled with suppressed violence, apparent unhappiness and dark secrets. Kenneth Kelleher directs this San Jose Stage Company production. Learn More

Thought provoking, emotional and mad! Really, really liked this one woman play. Joan Didion did an excellent job writing this and Helen Hedman gave an excellent performance on the closing night.Written on Jul 13 2009
Note to theatre parons; if you are too tired to attend ANY type of performance, stay home or excuse yourself quietly, instead of sleeping through ANY type of performance.

Thought-provoking monologue about Joan Didion dealing with the death of her husband, John Gregory Dunne, and the comatose and eventual death of their daughter, Quintana. Certainly not a happy evening, but it does make one think and realize how important it is to live life to the fullest each and every day. Occasional comic relief juxtaposed with the reality of mortality vs. immortality. Excellent performance by Helen Hedman.Written on Jul 06 2009
