D.C.'s own acclaimed avant-garde performance company force/collision creates a dynamic blend of live action and video projection inspired by British gay rights activist and experimental filmmaker Derek Jarman. Written by Obie Award-winning playwright Caridad Svich and starring John Moletress, this new production explores Jarman's out-of-the-box life and work through the eyes of a young queer artist, and premieres on the 20th anniversary of Jarman's death from AIDS-related causes. A true visionary, Jarman was famed for his non-narrative films, including Tilda Swinton's film debut Caravaggio, along with The Last of England, The Tempest and Blue, as well as his music videos for artists like The Sex Pistols, The Smiths and Pet Shop Boys. This production is set to tour parts of the U.S. and the UK following this run. Learn More

I enjoyed it, but felt it was grossly misrepresented in the description. For example, there was NOTHING "rock" like about it. It was avant garde, multi-media, tonal poetry. For someone who does not follow this music genre, it would be helpful to know what we are going to hear. The musicians are obviously extremely talented and it was interesting to watch and listen to, but not as represented. Of course, had I known who John Cage was, I'd have been better prepared. Go but know.
