One of the creative minds behind some of the most enduring hits of the '60s, '70s and beyond, R&B superstar Valerie Simpson returns to the stage at The Blue Dolphin. Simpson, along with her husband and longtime musical partner, the late Nicholas Ashford, found success penning a string of chart-topping R&B and pop songs, including "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing" and "I'm Every Woman," as well as writing and performing their 1984 hit single "Solid (As a Rock)." Simpson recently returned to the music scene following the death of her husband, and released her first solo album in several decades, Dinosaurs Are Coming Back Again. Learn More
The Atlas Performing Arts Center is relatively new to me, but I've enjoyed every event I've been to there. The adaptation of a classic movie theater for use as a center with several venues makes The Atlas an interesting and fun place worth a visit on its own.Sannidhi (Sacred Space) info • Mar 31 2014 star this tip starred

I enjoyed it, but felt it was grossly misrepresented in the description. For example, there was NOTHING "rock" like about it. It was avant garde, multi-media, tonal poetry. For someone who does not follow this music genre, it would be helpful to know what we are going to hear. The musicians are obviously extremely talented and it was interesting to watch and listen to, but not as represented. Of course, had I known who John Cage was, I'd have been better prepared. Go but know.
