Dubbed "an enchantingly beautiful dancer" by The New York Times, soloist and choreographer Aparna Ramaswamy brings her work Sannidhi (Sacred Space) to Atlas, accompanied by live music. This lyrical piece celebrates both the divine and the natural worlds, blending the spiritual and secular and bringing the past and present together through this beautiful, traditional type of dance. Ramaswamy is an acclaimed specialist in the classical Indian form of Bharata Natyam, and is set to be accompanied by vocalist Lalit Subramaniam, percussionist Rajna Swaminathan and violinist Anjna Swaminathan. Always a great place to hear or see anything. One of the very best venues in DC.
The performance itself was amazing and was another that would only happen at the Atlas (in fact one of the three or four places in the world that has presented this work so far). It's truly epic and deserves a much wider audience than it gets.
Hats off to all involved
