Part of Macha Theatre/Films' Cuban Cultural Night, celebrating Cuba's independence from Spain, the new documentary I Am the Other Cuba (Soy La Otra Cuba) sheds light on the current state of Cuba, its revolutionary past and its uncertain path toward an unknown future. Featuring interviews with a variety of Cuban citizens, Italian filmmaker Pierantonio Maria Micciarelli touches on subjects ranging from the ever-present struggle for freedom to the "myth of the revolution," and includes a visit to the Ladies in White, a group of peaceful opposition women in Cuba. Marti in Chains, a special monologue in remembrance of Jose Marti written by documentary producer Odalys Nanin and performed by Florenciani, will be performed prior to the show. After the screening, Cuban appetizers from Porto's Bakery will be served.
