Hailed as "the best musical of this century" by Ben Brantley of The New York Times and "the funniest musical of all time" by Entertainment Weekly, The Book of Mormon won nine Tony Awards -- including Best Musical -- in its first year on Broadway. Now the national touring production is back at the Pantages for a second round of hilarity. Written by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone along with Robert Lopez, the Tony-winning co-creator of Avenue Q, this musical comedy is a show that The Daily Show's Jon Stewart has called "a crowning achievement. So good it makes me angry." Learn More

Please be aware that this is a "Supper Club". Thus, they serve "supper" in the smallish though comfortable and pleasant room. So, if you go to the show hungry this would be a good place for a "dinner and show". The food items looked good costing around $18 each as I recall. There was no pressure to buy food and the wait staff was friendly giving us no pressure to buy anything. WE DIDN'T BUY ANY FOOD JUST ASKING FOR ICE WATER with a piece of lemon in it which we promptly received with a friendly demeanor from the staff. So we tipped 'em $10 at the end of the very good Judy Garland show.
Even if you don't want or buy dinner, I think you'll love the show. I was hoping for a "high and musical Judy Garland voice" and at first I was just a bit disappointed because the performer is a guy and his voice is naturally not as high as was the voice of Judy Garland. But, once I got used to the above, he really DID put on a great show! It's not only singing songs but an interesting narrative of events in the life of Judy Garland. If you love Judy Garland, you'll love this performance as we did! Highly recommended!
The area in West Hollywood is rather crowded. There is free parking on the east side of The French Market with cars leaving frequently so we parked there. But, just in case you cannot find any free parking, there is parking for $10 at a Bank of America parking lot about 1/4 mile to the west on the same side of the street as The French Market.
Starring Peter Mac as Judy Garland
Musical Direction and Piano Accompaniment: Bryan Miller and on Percussion: Kevin Widener.
Peter Mac is excited to see his dream become a reality to be debuting “Judy Garland LIVE!: In Concert” in this new venue built especially for him. So welcome to “Peter Mac’s at the French Market,” a new showroom dedicated to the preservation of loving tributes to a bygone era.
Mac made his debut as Ms. Garland in 2002 in his autobiographical play, “Judy and Me,” which ran for nearly two years at Rose’s Turn in New York. It made its Off-Broadway debut in 2008 at St. Luke’s Theater, also in New York, where it enjoyed a successful limited run. It toured throughout the East Coast and spawned his cabaret show, “Judy Garland: Live in Concert.”
The show has been created and conceived in the mind of Peter Mac, fast becoming known as Los Angeles’ premiere Judy Garland Tribute Artist. June 10, 2012 marks what would have been the legendary diva’s 90th birthday and appropriately falling on LA PRIDE day.
Valet parking is available for $2.50 in the French Market lot with restaurant validation after 5pm. Street parking is also available in the area.
