At first, as I sat in traffic on Santa Monica Blvd. trying to get to the event, I started thinking it was going to be a nightmare, since obviously all the cars clogging the road were headed there. This was a huge festival event, and those can be really crowded and full of long waits. I decided to ditch traffic and find a parking space on a side street and just walk a few blocks to the event. The line was wrapped around the block, hundreds of people long. After about 30 minutes of moving slowly forward, though, the line suddenly shot forward in an instant and everyone was let in. It was indeed crowded inside, but only select tables had long lines. Many others had short to no lines. There were tons of different wines to sample, and the bar even offered free bottled water as well. The food I tasted was good and ranged from salmon curry to sweet pea and goat cheese salad to potato tacos, plus fresh chocolate chip cookies and all kinds of sweets. This sort of event, which involves waiting in lines and eating small food samples while trying to juggle a mini plate and wine glass, is not typically my sort of thing. But I enjoyed it and was surprised that I didn't have to wait too long for most of the things I tried. Those that had too long a line I just skipped. It was a fun Sunday afternoon event.

Much too crowded and disorganized, but the food was good. J.Gold was in the crowd, but most people don't recognize him.

As repeated here before, it was a bit chaotic and sloppy. But - getting to try bites from Mozza, Anisette, Sona, The Hungry Cat and Clementine in one spot was a rare experience for me. I enjoyed the salads and desserts the best. I loved the pork belly on grits, and my friend enjoyed the potato tacos from Loteria Grill. The chefs were lining up for em. I'd go again, but it definitely needs a better venue.

What a disappointment! I waited in line over an hour to get in and only stayed 5 minutes! The lines for the food were longer than the line to get in. I found the event to be entirely poor and not worth a penny ... even a GoldStar penny. The layout as to where food booths would be located I found extremely poor. It was crowded everywhere and completely claustrophobic. What I could see of the food that was being sampled was nowhere near the caliber of what should have been expected and promoted for such an event. I felt really bad for anyone who paid the full $60/per ticket price. The was the worst I've participated in for as long as I can remember. Shame on you Jonathan Gold!
