Goldstar said the doors open at 8 as well as the show. We got there at 8:30 and there was no one there. So we decided to go grab a bite to eat and come back at around 10:30. They were really good, but the following group was not that great. Regardless of the latter band, I still had a good time with my friends.

The event supposedly started at 8PM, but no one played until 9PM. He was on for maybe 20 minutes. No one else came on after him. A little after ten, we left.
Although it was supposedly standing room only, there were several tables with no one sitting at them, but marked reserved.
IT SUCKED. It was nothing like the description and I regret even paying the processing fee. What a waste of an evening!!!

The venue was more like a dive bar; save for some fair (at best) numbers, the bands were unimpressive; and the staff was generally rude. I think the Viper Room is trading off its past and its best days are behind it. I will not be back.

I had different expectations of the type of music and clientele of the Viper Room before I arrived so I was pretty disappointed. I'm definitely more of a rocker, so when I arrived and heard hip/hop and rap during the interludes between bands it was definitely not my scene. The two bands I saw were not bad, but a bit more thrash metal than I would have liked. Personal preference so I can't really hold that against the Viper Room. On the pro-side: It was easy getting in with Goldstar and the bouncer on the top floor was super sweet. He suggested I come back on a Friday night when the crowd and music is more rock&roll which I definitely plan on doing. :)

It was great. I was a little intimidated about going to the Viper Room since we are 40-somethings and don't go out much anymore but my husband loves live music and is an amatuer musician so when the Goldstar event came up I thought "what the heck." We ended up having a great time; it is a small hole-in-the-wall club but has a laid-back vibe; everyone was there to just see the bands and drink beer. And some of the musicians' parents were there so we weren't even the oldest people there. :-) Highly recommended! We got great parking at the lot next to the Coffee Bean just east of the Viper Room on the north side of the street: $4. Note that you will be standing so wear comfortable shoes.

It was ok. Good variety of music although the bands weren't really that great... but hey, it's a cheap night out. Definitely NOT worth $12 at the door though.

It was suppose to be five bands playing on Saturday night. The doors opened at 8P with the first band taking the stage at 8:30P and playing until 9P. The band had an excellent guitarist. Once they left the stage, we waited until 9:45P and the second band had not arrived to play. This was a really long wait so we left. Shouldn't take so long between bands. It was a bore.... waiting!

Having never gone to the Viper Room, my boyfriend and I were curious to see the venue, as well as listen to several rock bands. The Viper Room was just that... a room! But it wasn't too crowded and the people were friendly. We got there around 9:30 and Alibi was the first band we saw. The lead was more of a performer than a singer, but he was entertaining. Black Cowboy was great, except for 1 or 2 songs. We stepped out for a bit and came back to hear another band playing a song from the Pixies. They were great, just wish we heard more of them. All in all, a great night for $4 tickets (service fee)!

The people at the Viper Room made it nice, but this was a rap event, and should have been advertised that way. I still support Goldstar :-)
