Great show and one of the better productions of this hit comedy I have seen in years. Having seen the original Los Angeles run a long, long, long, long, long, long, time ago I could not help but compare each player. Best performance of the year goes to: Momma (The Matron). Best supporting actor : Kimberly Lewis (Louise), that is my opinion and I have been to a heck of a lot of theater this year. A few of the other actors need to work on their character and develop them a bit fuller. OK so I am not a professional critic, but just a regular theater lover. You will surely enjoy the play, laugh out loud, belly ache and all. Buy your tickets now as this will be a hit in no time.
Be well.
Curious George

First class performances by a large and attractive cast. Some are larger and some are more attractive. Outrageous in the very best sense of broad comedy. The gals are great; the one guy not so much - he's playing too small. Loved the violent old movie clips.

Extremely well cast, acted, funny, good pace. Loved it !!!

In this hilarious send-up of women in prison B-movies of the 50s, innocent Mary Eleanor-framed for a crime she didn't commit-lands in the Greenwich Village Women's House of Detention. Presided over by a sadistic prison matron with a taste for female flesh (played by West Hollywood's Momma), Mary Eleanor enters this multicultural den of vice and ends up abused, hardened and cynical before her time....just like in the movies!
Women Behind Bars played to sold out audiences in both New York in the 1970s and here in Los Angeles at the Roxy in the 1980s. Playwright Tom Eyen was best known for co-writing the hit musical Dreamgirls, and had both Tony and Grammy Awards -- and even an Emmy nomination -- to his name.
