Clare Booth Luce's The Women is a wickedly venomous comedy about 1930s Manhattan socialites who, for pure sport, urge each other into self-destruction. Having no other occupation or purpose, the women manipulate each other to create gossip-column fodder for their own entertainment. The Women contains razor-sharp dialogue and social commentary particular to its time, but its themes -- marriage and divorce, socio-economic class, female friendship, standards of beauty and the role of women in society -- remain relevant today. I went because my friend had a small roll in the production. I didn't quite know what to think because he failed to give me any real background of the play other then "its really good." I purchased my ticket and thought the theater was really nice and cozy. There was plenty of seating options and from where I was sitting I didn't feel I missed out on anything. The play itself was long but it kept my interest. The rolls were well played and overall the production was great. I had a fun evening and hope my friend is in future productions that I can return to see.
Another classic mystery from the queen of the genre, Agatha Christie, that will keep audiences guessing until the final scene. An unhappy game of romantic “follow the leader” explodes into a crime one weekend at The Hollow, a British country manor. A doctor and his romantic entanglements are at the center of a gathering emotional storm that will bring murder to The Hollow.
