Based on the beloved 1944 Judy Garland film, this heartwarming musical was nominated for four Tony Awards -- including Best Musical and Best Original Score -- when it debuted on Broadway in 1989. The show follows the adventures of the Smith family (with particular focus on the romantic entanglements of the four Smith daughters), as they anxiously await the arrival of the 1904 World's Fair in their fair city. But their hopes may be crushed, and Christmas ruined, when Dad announces they're moving to New York. This production is filled with tender affection, genuine humor and unforgettable tunes like "The Trolley Song," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "The Boy Next Door." Learn More

I wasn't sure what to expect going to a theatre group I had never heard of which was performing in the Weston Town Hall. But I discovered that although I hadn't heard of the Weston Friendlies, they are the second oldest community theater group in the country. And this group was definitely a talented and skilled group. The cast was very large, and yet the synchronized tap dancing was amazing for such a large community group.
The show was filled with enthusiasm and excitement and one couldn't help but be enervated after watching this show. The dancing together must have taken an inordinate amount of practice time. Also, the costumes must have taken an inordinate amount of time.

It was a good community theatre production. Thought the orchestra was too loud or the actors mics weren't loud enough. Other than the lead who played Phil (who was fabulous) it was a little hard to hear the dialogue over the orchestra.
