Description

Dance Prism’s presentation of The Nutcracker is a fully-staged professional production featuring lively choreography, Tchaikovsky’s beloved music, and the traditional delights of this favorite holiday tradition. Dance Prism’s Nutcracker offers an affordable, family-friendly opportunity to celebrate the holidays with a production enjoyed throughout New England since 1982.

The performance follows Clara’s magical journey from a traditional 19th century Christmas party through a fantastic battle of toy soldiers and giant mice and a voyage through the ethereal kingdom of Snow, arriving finally at the Land of the Sugarplum Fairy where sweets from all lands come to life and dance in her honor.

Tchaikovsky’s exquisite score accompanies a cast of 140 professional and aspiring dancers as well as a growing Christmas tree, a reindeer drawn sleigh amidst a swirling snowstorm, and the clash of swords as a menacing Rat King battles the valiant Nutcracker Prince.

About the Ticket Supplier: Dance Prism

Dance Prism, founded in 1982 by Scott Ranagan and Mary Demaso, is a classically focused ensemble distinguished both for its treatment of such narrative ballets as The Nutcracker, Coppélia, Alice in Wonderland, and Cinderella, and for its original neoclassical works. To fulfill its essential purpose of bringing the spectrum of ballet into the communities of New England, Dance Prism defines itself primarily as a touring company serving the greater New England area. Dance Prism's Massachusetts touring schedule regularly includes appearances in such venues as Worcester's Mechanics Hall, the Collins Center in Andover, and the Jackson Arts Center at Bristol Community College in Fall River. Audiences of nearly 10,000 people per year see Dance Prism's acclaimed production of The Nutcracker.
