Russian pianist Ilya Yakushev joins conductor William Boughton and the New Haven Symphony Orchestra for an evening of Rachmaninov Fantastique. On the program will be two of classical music's most popular pieces. Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2 combines musical subtlety with piano pyrotechnics, and has been frequently used in film scores. Symphonie Fantastique was fueled by Berlioz's obsession with an Irish actress and hurtles from moments of tenderness to tantrums, from visions of suicide to ecstasy. There's a pre-concert lecture one hour before the show. Learn More

Dance Prism’s Nutcracker offers an affordable, family-friendly opportunity to celebrate the holidays with a production enjoyed throughout New England since 1982.
The performance follows Clara’s magical journey from a traditional 19th century Christmas party through a fantastic battle of toy soldiers and giant mice and a voyage through the ethereal kingdom of Snow, arriving finally at the Land of the Sugarplum Fairy where sweets from all lands come to life and dance in her honor.
Tchaikovsky’s exquisite score accompanies a cast of 140 professional and aspiring dancers as well as a growing Christmas tree, a reindeer drawn sleigh amidst a swirling snowstorm, and the clash of swords as a menacing Rat King battles the valiant Nutcracker Prince.
