Somewhere out on a tropical island in the South Seas during World War II, the seabees are pining for "dames" while the army nurses are trying to keep up morale. US Navy nurse Nellie Forbush falls in love with French plantation owner Emile de Becque, while the Navy airman Joe Cable falls for a young local native girl, Liat. The story line examines how their happiness is threatened by the realities of war and by their own prejudices. With an immortal score by Rodgers and Hammerstein and based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book by James A. Michener, South Pacific contains such songs as "Some Enchanted Evening," "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair" and "Bali Hai." This production is based on the 2008 Tony Award-winning Lincoln Center Theater revival, directed by Bartlett Sher.

This magnificently macabre musical comedy was created from the beloved TV show by an award-winning team that includes authors Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice (Jersey Boys) and composer-lyricist Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party). It's a fresh take on the original comic strip-turned-TV-and-movie-series and boasts a new story featuring all your favorite characters, including Gomez, Morticia, Lurch, Uncle Fester and Wednesday -- who's all grown up now and in love with a "normal" young man. Whether their relationship can survive her family's kooky hijinks is anyone's guess. It's a "visually satisfying, rib-tackling, lunatic musical that will entertain you to death," according to Toronto Post City. Learn More

The production of South Pacific was excellent in all respects. The voices, acting and music were all superb. Especially moving was the message against prejudice and intolerance, as exemplified by the wonderful song YOU’VE GOT TO BE CAREFULLY TAUGHT.
