Improv comedy and Broadway musicals collide in Boston's Unscripted Musical Project. The B.U.M.P. troupe takes a single suggestion from the audience and uses it to spontaneously create a fully improvised one-act musical spectacular. The heroes and villains invent hilarious lyrics and choreography to tell their story, while a full band dreams up a score to match. Because every show is totally unique, you never know just what B.U.M.P. will come up with, but with veterans of Chicago's legendary Second City and Improv Olympic, as well as ImprovBoston and Improv Asylum performing, you can be sure it won't be your typical Broadway musical. The Irish Comedy Tour takes the party atmosphere of a Dublin pub and combines it with a boisterous, belly-laugh trio that will perform live on The Hanover Theatre Stage. Come and laugh away the winter blahs!
The clover — make that clever — comedians, whose ancestors hail from the Emerald Isle, include Detroit native Derek Richards; Boston-born Mike McCarthy; and from Dublin, Ireland Keith Aherne.
Audiences howl at Richards’ tales about his mom’s dog, the holidays and dating a stripper. He has appeared on The Bob & Tom Show, XM and Sirius, and The Weather Channel’s Top 10.
McCarthy’s no-holds-barred humor has landed him on Comedy Central and Showtime. The “comedy barbarian,” as he calls himself, takes no prisoners when it comes to poking fun at society’s most sensitive topics.
And finally Aherne, who has performed with many of his home country’s favorite acts, including comedian Brendan Grace and The Dublin City Ramblers, will add authentic Irish music to the show.
The irreverent trio, which just released a DVD titled Dublin’ Over, has performed at venues across the country.
