Perhaps I'm just a sucker for this kind of thing, but I was VERY impressed by this whole show. It was kind of short (about two 1/2-hour segments), but just right for kids. I took my 4-year-old daughter, who loves dinosaurs, but I knew I was taking a chance that we'd leave after 10 minutes. To my delight, she wanted to stay for the whole thing, and came home with a stuffed T Rex that is currently eating all her other animals. She said she liked the show, though it was a little scary, and pretty loud (she had her hands over her ears for most of it, but she does that a lot). The paleontologist's patter was way over her head for the most part, but I interpreted the important parts and she seemed to really enjoy the spectacle of it all. I'm sure we'll be processing it for a long time, but all in all it was a success.
Either way, her new T Rex is her favorite companion now, and I find her regularly flipping through the program we bought and saying the names of the other dinosaurs - Torosaurus is a favorite. And I had a blast - no matter how much my rational mind told me "these are just big animatronic robots", the illusion was very convincing. And when a life-size T Rex roars in your face, there's a pre-rational part of your brain that responds and reminds you that you are still just a mammal at heart.
