USS Hornet Overnight Live-Aboard Experience
If you've ever dreamed of life on the sea, spending the night aboard the USS Hornet is the place to be. The adventure starts with dinner in the original crew's mess hall. Then, you'll tour throughout the ship to key areas and learn how the ship operated. Next, you might hear ghost stories or watch a historical documentary about the eight ships named the USS Hornet, before calling it a night in the original crew's bunks. The next morning, you're back in the mess for breakfast and then to a closing ceremony. In addition to its wartime exploits, the USS Hornet also picked up astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins after they returned from the first manned trip to the moon. You can see an Apollo space capsule, a Gemini boilerplate and even the Mobile Quarantine Facility, where the astronauts had to wait out the effects of any germs they might've picked up in space. Just imagine all the history that's happened here.
