Oregon Ballet Theatre: Impact
After recent collaborations with Beyoncé and Tony-winning director Diane Paulus (Pippin), Darrell Grand Moultrie is one of the most sought-after choreographers working today. To close out its 25th anniversary season, Oregon Ballet Theatre presents Impact, featuring the world premiere of Moultrie's latest work, which is set to music by acclaimed composer and artistic director of Portland's fEARnoMUSIC, Kenji Bunch. In addition, the program brings together three other powerful ballets, including the remarkable Crayola, which features six dancers performing only to the sound of their own pointe shoes' rhythm. Set to songs by Haitian artist Toto Bissainthe, Nacho Duato's potent Rassemblement brings to life the experiences of slaves to close this show at the Newmark Theatre in Portland.
