How was your experience?
I've often admired the risky work that Profiles Theatre dares to put on. But out of everything I've seen there this is by far the ballsiest. Dissocia tells the story of a mentally unwell young woman named Lisa Jones and depicts her inner conflicts and psyche as well as the actual drama it is creating in her life. The two acts of the play could not be more different from each other stylistically. The first is a madcap roller coaster ride through a fantasy world where each character and situation are stranger than the next, all brought to life by an endlessly talented ensemble. The second is heartbreaking in it's stark realism and I believe that it is here that Somer Benson (who plays Lisa Jones) truly shines. I've seen shows in the style of the first act and others that remind me of the second. This is the first time I've witnessed anyone put them together to tell one story. This is a truly unique theatrical experience and should not be missed.
