How was your experience?
I booked Bateaux New York through Goldstar.com which gave us a 50% discount on this dinner cruise which cost us $93 a person. The website clearly states that dresses and jackets are preferred. So that is what we wore. We took a cab from our hotel to the Chelsea Pier. We recieved our tickets at the booth and boarded the boat with a very nice greeting from the staff. The Cruise left as the sun was setting which was very pretty. The waiter explained that each course of dinner will have large gaps of time so that you can go out on the deck and take in the sights. Now I am a New Yorker, but seeing the skyline from the river at night is something totally different. It was beautiful. We went around the southern tip of M anhattan and up the East River. Under the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhatan Bridge, past the South Street Seaport, Under the Williamsburg Bridge and then back to the Statue of Liberty. We stopped at the Statue for about 10 minutes so you can take pictures (don't forget the camera like I did). The whole ride was about 3 hours. As for the food, it was good. I wouldn't call it great. The menu is very limited so I would suggest checking it on their website before booking. The drinks are on the expensive side. $10 for a glass of wine and $15 for a mixed drink. Almost all the diners wore dresses or Jackets. I would recommend this cruise only in the summer so you are not freezing and only at the discounted price on Gold Star Events. I dont feel the full price would be worth it.
