How was your experience?
What a wonderful show! All singing, all dancing --a must-see! I was a little leery of seeing a rehash of a movie, but, like The Producers, Brooks's show is simply inspired. The story remains fresh and funny after 35 years. Brooks's affection for the Frankenstein story in particular and theater in general is clearly evident in the producation. The cast was phenomenal with Roger Bart as "Dr. Frederick Frankenstein" and Shuler Hensley as "The Creature" reprising their Broadway roles in this delicious romp. At first I was afraid the sound would be muddled as the opening number was not clear, but that was soon cleared up and it was chalked up to the glitches involved in putting on a show in a new theater each week. The production values of road companies sometimes seem to be somewhat watered down compared to the Broadway production, but this presentation was every bit a good, if not better, than anything I've seen in New York. One caution is that some vulgarities are sprinkled through the show, so those with young children or who are easily offended should be advised. Otherwise, go! See! Enjoy!
