Saturday February 20, 2010 / 7:00pmMariachi Dinner Show
How was your experience?
I am so hooked on Goldstar. The La Fonda Mariachi show was almost as amazing as the discount. We paid $27 per ticket that included a four-course dinner and the fabulous mariachi show. A la carte we probably would have paid more than $60 a head. The meal included an appetizer plate, soup or salad, an entree (the carne asada I ordered cost $25 alone), and dessert. Everything was very tasty except for the dessert, a slice of Tres Leche Cake that we decided was really 1.5 Leches Cake. The show was AMAZING. They did about 11 numbers, including three with two dancers. The woman's costumes were really intricate and beautiful and the couple danced beautifully. The band was very good with two trumpets, four violinists, and two guitarists. Three of the musicians doubled as singers, who all had nice voices. A lot of big groups came to the show to celebrate birthdays. The lead mariachi had a list of everyone's name whose birthday it was and their age. He called each one on stage to do a very brief little dance and a few of the young women danced with the mariachis. The show lasted over an hour and we had plenty of time to relax before leaving. There was no rush to clear the house for the next show. One thing to watch out for is the margaritas. A huge pitcher (about 12 drinks) was $55!
