How was your experience?
We had a great time with our puppy. The weather was perfect on our day (6/16) and the water was very calm - no fast-moving, "scary" rapids. We are not athletic, outdoor types & had no problems maneuvering the water --unless you count going around in circles sometimes. We weren't sore the next day either! The staff was informative and friendly. Just be sure to pay attention when they're giving you instructions and tips on how not to tip over esp. when you hit the trees (and you WILL)! Also, they'll switch out the backless seat for one with back support if you need it - just ask. As mentioned in earlier reviews, the canoe takes a little getting used to. We were complete novices, but once you get into the rhythm, the quiet & the scenery is so soothing that you forget you're in the middle of a populated area. The rustle of trees, the sounds of the birds, the ripplling water as you paddle just about lulls you into a zen state. It was a wonderful stress-free afternoon. If you plan to make a few stops to picnic or swim along the way, the trip will take about 4-1/2 hrs. Some people finished really quickly and when they got to the pick-up point, they got snippy and curt with the poor staff as they weren't chauffeured back to their cars immediately. Possibly for logistical &/or financial reasons, the van waited till a few more boaters arrived before going back to the parking lot. Can't believe they let a wait among some beautiful, shady trees ruin the good vibes of the river trip. BTW, people planning on bringing their dogs should seriously consider getting a life vest unless you know for a fact that your dog can swim. The water was not really deep the day we went but it was our pup's first time. He was unnerved when we first set sail & jumped right out of the boat & landed in the water. We were able to haul him back by the handle on his life vest. We plan on doing this again. We just felt so good and relaxed and renewed afterwards.
