How was your experience?
This is a great idea for a tour. It isn't too far from New York, the wineries are stunning, the food is good and the day moves at a good pace. I had hoped for a 'little wine bus', but in fact there were two huge buses with dozens of people in each group. The few things that didn't work for me were the chaos at check-in (we spent a long time standing outside our bus waiting to board and left 20 minutes later than advertised) and the very high volume at which music, announcements and karaoke were broadcast. I was travelling with friends who were visiting New York for just a couple of days but it was impossible to chat to them or anyone else on the bus because of the noise level. For a while I felt that the only way to escape the noise would be to get off and hitchhike home on my own. The feeling of being trapped inescapably in the situation only made it all worse. One man suffered with a migraine for much of the day and his distress can only be imagined. Perhaps if there are two buses it would be worth designating one a 'party bus' and one a 'mellow bus' with lower noise levels and no karaoke. At the very least, it should be clear from the tour description that noise is part of the deal. The owner is good fun but sometimes it is nice just to chill and let the customers dictate the pace.
