How was your experience?
Great set, good production. Curiously the director did not see fit to have the performers belt out the show's signature songs, which really "flattened" out the experience for us. I first saw it on Broadway when I was 18 and in other productions presented as a joyous celebration. In this show the singing seemed toned down and it took the sizzle out of the show, making it more of a period piece. Part of it may have been due to Segerstrom Hall's acoustics or the miking/amplification.
