How was your experience?
I love Star Trek, and this event wasn't horrible, per say, but the quality of this event in terms of logistics, organization, and scheduling left a lot to be desired. Don't believe the description ("This weekend will feature a fantastic array of Star Trek stars, non-stop events, parties, contests, panels, music, performances, autographing, photo ops and some amazing extra surprises.") All that was included with the ticket was general admission, EVERYTHING else costs extra, and there were no parties or surprises. Not only that, general admission puts you in seats in the back of the "theatre" (last few rows out of over twenty rows) because everything else is "reserved" for premium ticket holders. From these seats, seeing the main events is okay, but taking pictures means tiny faces of the stars. For the price, though, not bad, right? Well, the event is run by... actually, its not clear who runs the event. There was no clear event staff or leadership, because most of the people that are the face of the event have badges that say "Volunteer" on them. In the main room, there was an emcee and sound booth / tech guy, and maybe someone occasionally to help them, but very often the stage would be empty and there would be long pauses where it seemed like nobody knew what was going on. None of the transitions between events were smooth. The stars (Nana and Rene) that we came to see were allowed on the stage late, then rushed off the stage, yet, the emcee (which didn't even know the schedule of when what was happening) took his time making profit by auctioning memorabilia, even when the audience told him clearly what time the panel of stars was supposed to start, he just kept on going with the auctioning.
